Introduction to the Utility (EL148)
Course Length: 5 Hours / 0.5 CEUs*
Course Description: Are you preparing for a career in utility management? This course will introduce you to utility operations as a whole, focusing on water and sewer systems. The course includes a brief introduction to the regulatory environment and covers how to work with regulatory agencies and consent orders. You will learn about the importance of media relations and communications with the public.
This course consists of the following three modules:
Module 1: Introduction to the Utility
Module 2: Goals of the Utility
Module 3: Media Relations
• Effectively communicate the importance of your job to your community.
• Describe the importance of regulations and why they have been established for the industry.
• Explain the importance of dealing with the public and media.
