Working in extreme cold or extreme heat is a very serious issue for all water utility workers. These extreme conditions can change a routine water utility job into a life threatening one. The two primary impacts of working in extreme weather conditions are the direct impact on our health and the impact on working conditions that may result in a workplace accident. It is imperative that utility operators and employees take the appropriate precautions and use the personal protective equipment that will protect all of us during these “extreme” work duties. This video teaches employees how to protect themselves from heat stress illness, heat exhaustion, dehydration, hypothermia, and frostbite.
