This standard covers two types of flange cross sections that may be used interchangeably if the dimensions given in the standard are used: the ring slip-on flange and the hub type slip-on flange. Unless otherwise specified by the purchaser, the supplier is free to choose the type. Also included are sections on the following: general information, references, markings, material specifications of flanges, bolting, gaskets, fabrication tolerances, facing and drilling, methods of attaching flanges by welding, welding procedure, and qualifications. The appendix contains additional references.
