Management Responsibilities (EL151)
Course Length: 5 Hours / 0.5 CEUs*
Course Description: A 21st century management role is not the same as a management role was in the 20th century. Stakeholders, business objectives, staff needs, and many other considerations have created a minefield for successful management. This course teaches key management functions and how to work with a governing board. There is a focus on conflict resolution and on interpersonal relationship skills. The course reviews the importance of good management and supervision practices; it also reviews the management of an organization and the senior management team.
This course consists of the following three modules:
Module 1: Basic Management
Module 2: Governing Board Relations
Module 3: Vision Statements
Learning Objectives:
• Explain the importance of knowledge transfer and institutional knowledge.
• Describe the changes in employee demographics and retention strategies.
• Give examples of the differences in expectations among the board, stakeholders, and management.
• Create a vision statement.
