This standard was approved in January, 1950. The revisions were approved June, 1953 and January, 1972. ANSI approved it in June, 1980. The purpose of this standard was to provide purchasers with a specification for the purchase and installation of filtration materials. Includes sections on definitions, compliance, filter gravel, sand and anthracite, placing filter materials, preparation of filter service, washing, scraping, disinfection, sampling, testing and rejection, preparation for shipment, and bag markings. Included in the appendix is a section on sieves and a bibliography. Also included is a brief history of the standard.
