The standard was approved January 1953, with revisions approved by AWWA in June 1980, and by ANSI in October 1980. Also provided is a brief history of the standard, major revisions, options, and special service requirements. This standard covers rubber gasket joints of the following types for ductile iron and gray iron pressure pipe and fittings: mechanical joint, push-on joint, and metric conversions. Included are sections on: definitions, general requirements, inspection, certification and test records, special requirements for mechanical and push-on joints, and performance requirements of push-on joints. The appendices contain information on installation of mechanical joints and metric dimensions. This nongovernment document was adopted and approved by the Department of Defense (DoD) on August 7, 1981.
